SPONSORED RESIDENTAL WAIVER PROGRAM
Frequently Asked Questions
We know you have questions. Here are answers to the ones we hear most often. If you don't see what you're looking for, don't hesitate to contact us directly.
What is included in your In-Home Support services?
Our services include assistance with daily activities such as personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, companionship, and mobility support—all tailored to your individual needs.
What is the Sponsored Residential Waiver Program?
The Sponsored Residential Waiver Program is a Medicaid-funded model of care where individuals with disabilities live in a private home with a trained caregiver (called a "sponsor") rather than in a group home or institution. It promotes independence, stability, and community connection in a family-style setting.
Does Life Changing Solutions accept Medicaid?
Yes. Our services are funded through Virginia's Medicaid Waiver programs. If your loved one is enrolled or eligible for a Medicaid Waiver, they may qualify for our program at little or no out-of-pocket cost. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
What is a "sponsor" (caregiver)?
A sponsor is a trained individual or family who opens their home to a program participant. Sponsors are carefully screened, trained, and supported by our team to provide consistent, high-quality daily care in a real home environment.
How are participants matched with sponsors?
We take matching seriously. We consider the individual's personality, needs, preferences, daily routines, and goals — as well as the sponsor's home environment, experience, and capacity — before making any placement. Our goal is long-term compatibility, not just an available slot.
How involved can families be?
Very involved. Family collaboration is a core part of our model. We maintain open communication with families and guardians, keep them informed of progress and changes, and actively include them in care planning and decision-making.
What happens if a placement isn't working?
We monitor all placements closely and maintain regular communication with both participants and sponsors. If concerns arise, we address them quickly and work to find a resolution — up to and including finding a new placement if needed. The well-being of the individual always comes first.
How do I get started?
